Who Is Lambo Griffin? Author of The Archive and History Is Selective
Lambo Griffin is the creative and author name used by Dorian Martin-Smith, an independent writer, recording artist, researcher and entrepreneur based in Oklahoma. His work moves across books, music, artificial-intelligence research, genealogy, philosophy and technical projects rather than staying inside a single genre.
From music to books
The name Lambo Griffin first developed through music and creative work, but it now also identifies a growing body of nonfiction and research-oriented writing. In 2026, Griffin released The Archive and History Is Selective, two books that approach memory, identity and evidence from different directions.
The Archive is an experimental biography and human-AI project built from more than three years of conversations with artificial-intelligence systems. Instead of treating AI merely as a writing assistant, the project examines what happens when systems accumulate years of facts, corrections, disagreements and interpretations about one person.
History Is Selective is a modern philosophy work assembled from original sayings, philosophical questions, lyrics and personal writings. It focuses on memory, power, historical records, ownership, agency and legacy.
Dorian Martin-Smith and Lambo Griffin
Dorian Martin-Smith and Lambo Griffin are not separate people. Lambo Griffin is the public creative identity attached to Martin-Smith's books, music and selected media work. The Dorian Martin-Smith name is also used for research, technical writing, genealogy and professional work.
That overlap is intentional. The projects share recurring questions: What survives in a record? How should evidence be separated from interpretation? What does ownership make possible? How do people correct narratives that have already formed around them? What can be built that lasts longer than the founder?
Current work
Current projects include The Archive human-AI research series, History Is Selective, independent AI evaluation work, technical systems research, African American genealogy and public-history research, and a music catalog released under the Lambo Griffin name.
Readers, reviewers, interviewers and researchers can follow the current book and research work through the official Archive site. New material is published there as the projects develop.
